Alice Ann Fry, 93, peacefully passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 surrounded by her family at Taylor House Hospice.

Memorial services will be 11:00am, Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at First Christian Church at 25th University Ave. in Des Moines.

Alice Ann was born July 2, 1919 in Albia, the daughter of Jessie Powell and Ernest John Renz. She remained in Albia until 1927 when she moved to Des Moines. She met and married her husband, Alvin Lincoln (Pat) Fry in Des Moines and they celebrated 53 years of marriage.

She attended Drake University and was a member of Delta Gamma. Alice Ann was employed with the Des Moines Public Schools as a secretary and also worked at Equitable of Iowa. She was a 53 years member of Chapter EH P.E.O. and was also an active member of the First Christian Church, Blank Guild Volunteer, Shrine Ladies Hospital Auxiliary and Nobelles Group. She enjoyed playing bridge in her bridge groups.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Pat in 2000 and sister, Mary Doolittle in 1999. She is survived by daughters, Diane Gillotti and Nancy Phillips and her grandchildren, Michael Reed Phillips, Nicholas Powell Gillotti and Angela Ann Gillotti.

The family wishes to thank the Health Center at Calvin Community, staff at Younkers Hospital 8th floor and the Taylor House Hospice for all their loving care of Alice Ann.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital or Chapter EH P.E.O. for Educational Loan Fund.
