A new year can mean both a time of celebration of new things to come and a time of reflection on things in our past we are looking to change or move forward from. Churches in Winterset can accommodate either.
St. Paul Lutheran Church leaders are looking to help their community members in this new year. Anyone with mental health issues is welcome to attend its mental health support group. The group meets the first Saturday of every month from 10 – 11 a.m. The church offers many other groups and monthly activities as well, such as a casual worship service every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. For a full listing, go the church’s website at www.wintersetlutheran.org or stop in to the church at 1120 N. Eighth Ave.
It’s a time of celebration at St. Joseph Church with Holy Week rapidly approaching. This year the church is making it extra special by holding not one, but two workshops. The first will kick off on Saturday, Jan. 19, and the second will be on Saturday, Feb. 3, with both taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. St. Patrick Parish of Council Bluffs will host the first workshop, and St. Pius X Parish of Urbandale will host the second. Anyone interested in bringing life to the celebration of Holy Week and prayer practice in the parish is welcome. Stop by the church at 1026 N. Eighth Ave., or peruse the website at www.saintjosephchurch.net.
It’s been a hard and transitional year for many, and Winterset Foursquare Gospel Church wants to help. One of its two adult Sunday School classes is offering a course called “Dealing with Grief,” providing a warm and relaxing atmosphere that meets in the sanctuary from 9 – 9:45 a.m. For more information on this program and others, check out the church’s website at www.wintersetfoursquarechurch.org or visit at 224 E. Court Ave.
