A Farewell to Webster City

Posted January 16, 2013 in Community Featured

Head Shot Carrie 1It’s never easy to say goodbye in any situation, but it’s even harder to say goodbye to a whole community. I have been the Chamber director for five years, and this January 2013 I say goodbye. I say goodbye to wonderful memories and the great people of Webster City.

I would like to take a moment and reflect. In the past five years I have enjoyed:

• Numerous Chamber Coffees with so many different hosts. I loved learning about each of the businesses and what was going on in their business. Of course, I also loved ringing the bell.

• Events. There have been a lot of events in the past five years with the Chamber. I always enjoyed the Chamber Golf Outing, even though my golf game should never be seen by anybody. Boone Bash River Dash was exciting to be a part of, and I am glad they went with my crazy idea of doing a Cardboard Regatta. Ladies Night Out is so much fun to put together and participate in. I will never forget 2012 Crazy Days Art Festival and Car Show, even though it was short lived by a lot of rain. I will never forget that memory of standing in the middle of the street in the rain. My favorite event is the Annual Meeting Gala, when the Chamber gets to showcase all of the accomplishments and tell the membership about our goals for the following year.

• Putting together benefits and creating new benefits for the Chamber of Commerce was also rewarding. I loved being a part of the Business ADventures series.  Each video was unique and a whole lot of fun to watch being filmed.  M2M cards were fun to deliver and create.

• RAGBRAI. I loved being a part of the executive committee for RAGBRAI. It was time consuming and a little stressful, but I wouldn’t trade the experience and the memories for anything. My favorite part of RAGBRAI was seeing everyone work together in Webster City.

There are many more memories and moments that I enjoyed here in Webster City. My favorite part of my job was being able to connect, support and nurture the businesses in Webster City.  Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your community, businesses and your life.
