Posted January 14, 2013 in Community Web Exclusives, Waukee

Strengthening Families is a six week skills-building program offered through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.  It is for parents to attend with their youth ages 10-14 and is designed to help families build strong relationships.  Parents/caregivers learn to use love and limits in guiding their youth, in family communication and in problem solving. Youth learn to set goals, understand stress, and practice skills to deal with peer pressure.

This program is being offered through Waukee Community Education. It will be held at Prairieview School, 655 SE University Ave in Waukee beginning Sunday January 27, 2013 through March 10, 2013. There will be no class on Sunday February 3, 2013. Each week a free meal is provided at 5 pm for those attending along with free child care for younger children. Class is from 5:30 – 7:30 pm and the cost is $19 per family.
