Jim Sandvig, age 76, passed away on January 12, 2013, at Fort Dodge.
James Dean Sandvig was born on July 6, 1936, at Rolfe. He was the son of Elmer and Sadie (Lilly) Sandvig. Jim was educated in Rolfe schools. After he completed his education, Jim worked for the ASC Office in Pocahontas and later for the railroad in Rolfe. On March 15, 1958, Jim married Kathy Bonstetter at Rolfe. The couple made their home in Rolfe. Jim worked for Beckord’s Hatchery on Rolfe for many years. He then worked for Fischer-Goldstar in Laurens, retiring in 2006. Kathy passed away on May 19, 2011, and Jim has made his home in Rolfe since then.
Jim was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on his cars. He loved his many dogs, and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his son: Dave (Gina) Sandvig of Rolfe; daughters: Sheila (Paul) Wittrock-Ross of Fort Dodge and Debbie (Chris) Brennick of Altoona; grandchildren: Rob (Heather) Wittrock, Erica Sandvig, Zach Wittrock, Sander Brennick, Kai Brennick and Bentley Brennick; great-grandchildren: Logan Wittrock, Keaton Wittrock and Madeyln Wittrock; step-grandchildren: Tanya Ross and Brian Ross; step-great-granddaughter, Ariah Ross; brother: Jack (Betty) Sandvig of Twin Lakes; sisters: Jane Firkins of Newton and Pat (Garlin) Carmichael of Storm Lake and sister-in-law, Rita Green of Algona.
