A new year means a new beginning and renewed faith. What better place to turn for such inspiration than one of the many Des Moines churches, and who better to involve than youth from the community?
That’s why at Des Moines Fellowship activities are offered to believers of all ages, and it all kicks off on Sundays with the kids. Laying a Foundation Kids (LAF) teaches young members the grace and supremacy in God through all things. There are different curriculums for different age groups. The 2- and 3-year-olds will be in a class called Praise Factory, while the 4-year-olds and kindergarten class curriculum is called “He has spoken by His son.” The first through sixth graders will be working on a curriculum called, “In the beginning… Jesus.”
Beyond that, Des Moines Fellowship encourages teens to get involved in with a special group just for them called “Walking in Righteousness Every Day,” or W.I.R.E.D. This group facilitates growth in God through the Bible, student-led ministry, activities and friendship. W.IR.E.D. meets every Wednesday at 6:45 p.m.
For those who are post-high school age and looking for worship specific to them, the church offers a youth group called Core (formerly Powerline) that meets Sundays at 6 p.m. For information on where Core meets, contact the church office at 515-255-5528.
Aside from its youth-focused offerings, Des Moines Fellowship is also continuing its Lord’s Supper Meeting, which includes folks of all ages every second Sunday of the month at 6 p.m. This month it will be held Jan. 13. It’s an intimate gathering when everyone is encouraged to share insights or read from the Word to help others in celebration of the Lord. As an added bonus, these are also L.A.F. kids game nights.
The church also welcomes everyone to its Spark Prayer Group that meets every Sunday from 9 to 9:40 a.m. at the Des Moines Fellowship Sanctuary. Sunday service follows at 9:45 a.m. For more information on any of these groups or events, visit the church’s website at www.desmoinesfellowship.org. The church can also be contacted at 515-255-5528, or stop by at 950 35th St.
