Funeral Services for Gordon Tiffany, 55, of Jefferson will be 10:30 am Thursday, January 10, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jefferson. Burial will be in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 am Wednesday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with a prayer service at 5:00 pm. The family will then greet friends following the prayer service until 7:00 pm. Memorials are suggested to the family and may be left at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home.

Gordon Dennis Tiffany was born on Valentine Day, 1957, the fourth of six children born to John F. (Jack) and Donna Marie Ragan Tiffany. Gordon passes away peacefully on Saturday, January 5, 2013 after suffering a stroke.

Groder, as he was known to all, was raised on the family farm near Dana, graduated from Jefferson Community High School in 1975 and attended the University of Iowa.

For lengthy times during his life he lived in Phoenix, AZ and Houston, TX where he drove trucks, some intra-city, but predominantly over-the-road. As he drove, he listened to all-night talk radio and shortwave radio talk programming. He has crossed the lower 48 states thousands of times and to paraphrase the old country song, “He’s Been Everywhere.” Groder returned to Iowa in 2002 and has worked since that time for Flack Farms and Chemtech Inc.

Groder was known to all for his generous nature, living simply, but regularly giving great portions of his salary to those he wanted to assist. He was also known for his passionate, conservative views on politics and the corrupt world economic system. He spoke of the evils of financial derivative instruments in 1980, two and-a-half decades before those instruments and their ilk nearly collapsed the world economic system.

Groder was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Donna, his paternal grandparents Raymond and DeSales Tiffany, his maternal grandparents Dennis and Dorothy Ragan, his brother Vaughan Tiffany and cousins Christopher Schilling and Stuart McGregor.

Left to mourn his passing are brothers, Jon (Jayne) and Brian (Carla) of Jefferson and sisters, Jane Duffy (Jim) of Cannon Falls, MN and Pollyann Grady (Ron) of Nevada, IA. He leaves his beloved aunt and uncle Dennis and Monica McGregor of Jefferson and beloved uncle John T. (Jack) Lynch of Minneapolis, MN to remember him. A host of cousins and hundreds of friends will also be filled with sadness.

He was one of a kind. “Buy gold and vote for Ron Paul, “he said.
