I hope the holidays found everyone well and that the new year is full of joy and prosperity.
Last year was a great one for the Chamber, and we are going to build on this success for 2013. Even during the tough economic times, we were able to increase our membership and improve upon our already successful events and promotions. We realize how tough times can be, but our Chamber is full of generous businesses that allow us to promote our community the best we can. Without your generosity, we would not be able to host the events that make Perry such a great place to live, work and play. As the director, my number one goal for 2013 is to increase the value of your Chamber membership with everything we do. Your membership and support are invaluable.
Downtown Assessment launching in 2013
Remember in September when we conducted a Downtown Assessment with the Iowa Economic Development Authority? Stay tuned in January for the launching of a number of great initiatives that came out of that study. There is going to be a great need for volunteers to make our downtown the best it can be. Now is the time to take this assessment and put it into action.
36th annual BRR is Feb. 2
It’s Bike Ride to Rippey and it’s Groundhog Day. Maybe we can keep reliving the fun over and over again. Once again avid cyclist and cartoonist Brian Duffy has designed our logo. BRR Central/registration will be located at the Hotel Pattee again this year. The Lions Club will get the tires rolling in the morning with breakfast in the Grand Ballroom. Rippey will host a beer tent to keep riders out of the weather for a bit before they return to Perry to celebrate all that downtown has to offer. Various bars, restaurants and retailers will be having specials for locals and riders that day, so make sure to come out. BRR is a great way to showcase what Perry has to offer. To register, go to www.bikeiowa.com. This is the largest fundraiser for the Chamber, and it helps set the tone for the rest of the year.
