A Dining Treat

We had driven by the little restaurant on Highway 18 hundreds of times, but since we’re better at buffets than ordering off the menu when it comes to all the different choices of Chinese food, we had yet to stop in for dinner.

“I don’t know what to order. I need to be able to see everything and then take a little bit of it all,” my dining companion always says — even if I do prefer the more relaxing atmosphere of a sit-down restaurant.

Finally, on the strong recommendation of a friend, we found our way inside Lam Inn, which has actually been part of the Clear Lake dining scene for quite some time. Greeted at the door by a warm and friendly face, we need not have worried about not knowing what to order.

We found a little table and started to pore over the menu, confident in finding exactly what we wanted. And with each of us ordering a good-size meal, there was so much to share that it was practically our own private buffet.

For myself, the choice was easy as my favorite is always the chicken and vegetables or chicken and broccoli. Warm and delicious, served on top of a huge bed of fluffy white rice, the vegetables were sweet and tender, while the chicken had a full flavoring, just the right touch of tangy to make it interesting, while still having a smooth and delicious taste going down.

My dining companion took longer to choose, but finally settled on a beef dish with vegetables and fried rice, which made for a delightful combination of flavors and texture. This fussy eater was not disappointed and left not a morsel on the plate.

To top it all off, I just had to have a serving of crab rangoon. Crisp on the outside and filled with a sweet and delectable concoction on the inside, the crab rangoon is always a great compliment to any Chinese meal.

Throughout the meal, we enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere. The service was quick and the food came freshly prepared and piping hot. Since our dine-in experience was such a treat, we plan to stop back often.
