Ruth Janelle Schuhardt, 84, of Perry, IA passed away December 25, 2012 at her home in Perry. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012 with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Pastor Doresa Collogan with HCI of Central Iowa will officiate the graveside service. Musician Sara Schuhardt will perform Amazing Grace on the flute. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Sara Schuhardt, Brittany Schuhardt, Josh Schuhardt and Jace Schuhardt. Memorial contributions may be made to HCI Care Services of Central Iowa and may be left at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry.

Ruth was born September 22, 1928 in Coon Rapids, IA the daughter of Chris and Edna (Timmons) Jacobsen. She graduated from Perry High School in 1946. After graduation she began working at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Perry. She was united in marriage to Leland Schuhardt on August 8, 1954 in Omaha, NE and continued working at the telephone company and also was a hard working farm wife. Leland and Ruth retired to Perry in 1990.

Over the years, Ruth enjoyed bowling, volunteering at Forest Park Museum and having lunch every Tuesday with the “phone girls”. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Leland of Perry, IA. Sons: Randy (Shannon) Schuhardt of Perry; Tim (Denise) Schuhardt of Perry; four grandchildren; Sara Schuhardt of Omaha; Brittany Schuhardt of Des Moines; Josh Schuhardt of Des Moines and Jace Schuhardt of Perry.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Robert, Howard, Mervin and Richard and one sister, Carolyn.
