Memorial services for Michael Gehling, 48, of Jefferson, will be held 10:30am Friday, December 21, 2012 at The Dwelling Place, 303 E. Gallup Road, Jefferson.   Private interment will take place later at St. Francis Cemetery, Maple River, Iowa.

Michael Ray Gehling was born June 25, 1964 in Carroll, Iowa and passed away December 17, 2012 at his home in Jefferson, Iowa.

Michael, one of 10 children, was the son of Raymond Gehling and Lenore Lemker Gehling. Michael grew up in Carroll, Iowa and graduated from Carroll High School.   He then attended Ellsworth Community College in Iowa Falls, IA where he received his Associate Degree.

Michael later moved to Jefferson, where he got really involved with his church, The Dwelling Place. He loved to volunteer and attend as many services as possible. He also really enjoyed helping others, whether it was driving someone to an appointment or just helping them out around town. He enjoyed bowling, playing tennis, and fishing. What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, and grandparents, Roy and Agnes Lemker and William and Agnes Gehling. He is survived by his mother Lenore Gehling of Elkhart, Iowa; his siblings Gary (Dawn) Gehling of State Center, Iowa, Suzanne (John) Boris of Gaylord, Michigan, Sandra (Michael) Luster of Rochester, Minnesota, Nancy (Eugene) Mevissen of Cushing, Wisconsin, Daryl Gehling of Des Moines, Iowa, Stephen (Brenda) Gehling of Polk City, Iowa, Mark (Amanda) Gehling of Radcliffe, Iowa, Scott (Rachel) Gehling of Elkhart, Iowa, and Becky Gehling of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
