Roger Adams, age 71, of 974-223rd Place, rural Ogden, died December 10, 2012, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
His body has been cremated and no formal service will be held.
On Friday, December 14, 2012, family and friends are invited to the Fellowship Hall of Central Christian Church in Boone.
A meal will be served from 11 to 11:30 a.m. followed by a time to visit with the family from 11:30 until 1 p.m.
A private family graveside service and burial will be in the Sparks Cemetery, southwest of Boone.
Roger was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on March 4, 1941, the son of Marmion and Margaret (Wetherbee) Adams.
He graduated from Boone High School in 1959.
On January 31, 1964, Roger married Vicki Leichliter in Coon Rapids, Iowa.
In earlier years, Roger worked as a soil tester for the Department of Transportation.
He also worked at Quinn Machinery and for Square Deal Oil Co.
He later worked for Don’s Body Shop and finally farmed in Worth Township. He retired in 1999.
Roger especially enjoyed attending the activities of his grandchildren.
He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, feeding and watching birds, woodworking, reading farm magazines, listening to his scanner, and cooking.
He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Cyclones fan.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Jean and Don Leichliter.
He is survived by his wife Vicki of rural Ogden; a son Troy Adams and wife Linda of Swea City and their children Carrie Stevens and husband Chris of Denver, CO., Kirsten Adams of Brookings, South Dakota, and Matt Adams and Jake Adams of Swea City. A daughter Jodi Baker and husband Scott and their daughter Addyson Baker of Boone. A granddaughter Hailey Hauge and husband David and their daughter Lillian Grace Hauge of Ogden, and a granddaughter Sami Jo Severson of Luther.
Also surviving is a brother David Adams of Alabama and a sister Gail Adams and husband Bill Whitten of Livingston, Texas.
In memory of Roger, memorials may be directed to the Israel Family Hospice House.
