Shirley Johnson, age 75, of Carroll passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Carrollton Center in Carroll with Rev. Kathryn McDowell of New Visions Spiritual Growth Center of Phoenix, Arizona officiating. The service will be followed by a luncheon where the family will greet friends. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s name and memorials may be left at the service or mailed to Myron Johnson at 2810 N. Grant Rd. Carroll, Iowa.
Born on June 17, 1937 at Boone, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harold L. and Ruth (Aspengren) Crouse. She grew up in Boone and the surrounding area and graduated from Boone High School in 1955. Following high school she worked in Boone for Dr. Manderscheid as an assistant. She was married to Myron L. Johnson on March 16, 1968 at Swede Valley Lutheran Church near Ogden by Rev. J.E. Bergquist. The couple lived on a farm northwest of Ogden for several years. Myron and Shirley built and operated the Beaver Oil Company for seven years before moving to Carroll in 1968. In her younger years she was very active in the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, she enjoyed aerobics and exercise classes, and she loved being with her many friends. The Johnsons enjoyed spending the winters in Scottsdale, Arizona for many years where they belonged to New Visions Spiritual Growth Center.
Shirley is survived by her husband Myron of Carroll; a daughter Valerie Lindgren and her husband Del of Malmo, Nebraska; a son David Johnson and his wife Marsha of rural Glidden; a daughter Ahnalee Johnson of Monticello, Iowa; a son Ky Johnson of Glenwood, Iowa; four grandchildren: Elizabeth Bladt and her husband Chad of Malmo, Nebraska, Jeremy Lindgren of Omaha, Jessica Johnson and her fiancé Trevon Brandhorst of Iowa City, and Joshua Johnson of Indianola; two brother-in-laws: Raynold Johnson and his wife Kay of Woodward, Iowa and Daryl Johnson and his wife Carolyn of Ogden, Iowa; and two sister-in-laws Avenelle Olson and Jean Johnson both of Boone; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
