December Happenings at the Grimes Library

Posted December 05, 2012 in Community Blogs, Grimes

We have quite a Christmas planned… I feel like we should be having outdoor activities instead of ‘winter’ activities! We had a ‘Make a Gingerbread House” program last Saturday (and another this Saturday if you are interested) so well attended we had to get into the next Saturday’s supplies! These are instances librarians are prepared for and actually LOVE!

Still several great choices of Christmas books to come get to read to the kids.  We have a sticker on the backbone of the book to make it easy to find the December Holiday books!

We get the news about our feasibility study on Dec. 20… wish us luck.  We sure need the space, just need the funding.  Anxious to see what will come around!  What we could use is a ‘book’ Daddy or Mamma ready to fund our expansion with a single signature!!! As always when times are thin, the arts and education always take a hit, but we do have two sports complexes!!!   🙂 (Ya, jealous!)

If anyone actually reads this blog, would you post on our Facebook account you saw this in the Grimes Living Blog?  Our Facebook page can be found at —

These are two great spaces to find out what is going on at the Grimes Public Library!

We do have another Red Cross Certified Babysitting class offered on Thursday, Dec. 27, from 9:00 to 4:30pm. Cost is only $45.00 as our Library Board President donates her time to the Library to keep our cost down which we pass on to our babysitting students! Thank you Wanda Armstrong.  Stop by the library to register ($45.00), space is limited to 8 students.

The Library will be closed on December 24 and 25, also December 31 and January 1, 2013!

Upcoming Library Board meetings, December 6, December 13 and December 20. The agenda is posted at the library.
