The holidays are in full swing, and so is the Chamber. We have lots to celebrate. Below are just a few of the great events coming up in December. Make sure to support our local businesses during this time of year and for that matter, all year.
Perry Fine Arts will have former Perry Superintendent Dr. Randy McCaulley perform on Sunday Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at the high school. This event is free and open to the public.
Des Moines Area Community College – Van Kirk Career Academy of Perry will host a Chamber After Hours on Dec. 12 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at the Career Academy Building. Light refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Stop in and learn more about the programs provided at our new DMACC. This event is open to the public.
Bits of Technology will be celebrating its new location, 1114 First Ave., and new owner with a ribbon cutting and open house on Friday, Dec. 14. The open house is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the ribbon cutting taking place at 2 p.m. Nathan Leerhoff, the original owner, is once again back running Bits of Technology. Stop in for the ribbon cutting and welcome Nathan and Bits of Technology into their new office.
Las Posadas will be held on Friday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. This event is brought to us by Hispanics United for Perry and celebrates a traditional Hispanic Christmas ceremony. The procession starts at St. Pat’s Church at 6 p.m. and is followed by Fiesta at the Methodist Church. This is a must-see event. For more information please contact HUP at 515-490-2298.
Once again this year there will be a free community Christmas dinner brought to you by a number of generous volunteers on Dec. 25 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. This event is free to the public. If you would like to volunteer to help please call 515-465-3740. If you would like to donate cookies or some sort of dessert, please just bring those items to the Elks that day. Thank you to all the people who make this event so special.
