May 12, 1923 – November 24, 2012
Rose Koufer, 89, passed away suddenly on November 24, 2012. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2012 at Beth El Jacob Synagogue, with interment at Jewish Glendale Cemetery.
Rose was born in Des Moines on May 12, 1923, the daughter of Joseph and Belle Chait. She grew up in Clarinda, IA, graduated from Clarinda High School in 1940 and attended Drake University.
Rose was a home maker and also enjoyed volunteering for several years at both Mercy Hospital and the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center. She enjoyed playing Mah Jongg, going to Prairie Meadows, having a Noah’s pizza, and generally spending time with family and friends. Rose loved watching college basketball, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes….and she thought Tom Izzo to be a “whining, cry-baby”.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Mike Koufer; brother, Jerry Chait of Dallas, TX, and her parents. She is survived by her two children, Alan of Nashville, TN, and Karen (Tom) Moser of Los Angeles, CA and two grandsons, Josh Moser of Grand Junction, CO and Max Moser of Los Angeles, CA.
