New Worship Center

Radiant Church celebrated the opening of its new worship center on Oct. 7.

Radiant Church celebrated the grand opening of its new worship center on Oct. 7. The 12,000-square-foot location is at 1300 Metro East Drive and houses a 300-seat worship center, children’s and youth area, coffee bar, lobby and many other amenities needed to serve the growing congregation.

“We’re very happy with the opportunity to finally have a place to call home,” says founding pastor Jon Wiest. “The space is completely remodeled with a great sound system, good lighting and a wonderful layout. It’s really a great facility.”

Wiest and his wife, Katie, started the church in March of 2010 after moving back home from Dallas, Texas.

“We had three kids and felt like the Lord was leading us to move closer to family,” says Wiest, a Waterloo native.

With a vision to plant a new church that would bridge the wast aide and surrounding communities, Radiant Church has seen great growth from a diverse crowd.

“Our congregation is quite diverse ethnically, economically and generationally,” says Wiest. “We are reaching people from very different walks of life and have a great mix on Sunday mornings. The comments we hear most often are that this is a comfortable and friendly place to grow spiritually. We try to keep things very real and transparent. I do my best to open God’s Word and explain things in a very down-to-earth way.”

With the Christmas season around the corner, the church is planning a unique Christmas production on Sunday, Dec. 16.

“Our philosophy of ministry is centered around the family,” says Wiest. “This production is called Radiant FX (short for family experience) and tries to engage both the children and adults in a fun and creative way.”

Everyone is invited for this Nickelodeon-style Christmas production complete with lights, dancing, music and a lot of fun.

“We hope it connects to both adults and kids and drives home the message of Christmas” says Wiest.

If you would like to visit Radiant Church, they are launching two identical services at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. every Sunday beginning Dec. 2. For more information, check the website, www.radiantonline.org.
