Albert Martin, age 74, of 1101-242nd Street, died November 19, 2012, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 26, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Ogden with Dean ‘Butch’ Glawe officiating.
Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport.
Albert was born in Boone on January 20, 1938, the son of Charles and Etta (Elsberry) Martin.
He graduated from Boone High School in 1956 and served with the Iowa National Guard.
In earlier years, Albert was affiliated with Pritchard Bros Inc.
He later moved to Urbana and owned/operated Martin Heating & Cooling.
He returned to Boone and worked for Ames Heating & Cooling in Ames. Albert retired in 2003.
He was baptized and a member of the Church of Christ.
Albert was also a member of the Hunt & Fish Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, Bible Study; and he loved to cook.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Gerald Martin, and a sister Lorena “Maxine” Duncan.
Albert is survived by two sons: Randy Martin and wife Robin of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Brian Martin and wife Lori of Urbandale; a daughter Justine Oehlert and husband Kurt of Arvada, Colorado; four brothers: Richard and wife Betty, Wallace, Bill and wife Gerrie, and Raymond Martin, all of Boone; three sisters Alice Whittlesey and husband Jim of Boone, Hazel Peterson and husband Kenny of Ogden, and Diane Riffle of Lansing, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall on Sunday from 2 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m.
Visitation continues on Monday at the funeral chapel from 8 until 10 a.m. and then at the Church of Christ in Ogden from noon until service time.
