The Waukee Public Library will host a Candidates’ Forum on Saturday December 1st at 10:00 AM. The forum will feature the two candidates running for the 22nd District in the Iowa State Senate.
The two invited candidates are business owner Desmund Adams and West Des Moines city councilmember Charles Schneider. The special election to fill the vacant seat will be held on Dec. 11.
Lucas Casey will serve as forum moderator. Casey is the Assistant to the President and Adjunct Lecturer in Political Science at Grand View University. He holds a master’s degree in public administration and policy from Drake University and is active in the community. Casey resides in the West Des Moines portion of Iowa’s 22nd Senate District.
Library Board President Brian Hughes is excited about the prospect of the library as a host for the forum. “As part of our mission, the Waukee Public Library endeavors to inform our community and is dedicated to promoting the free exchange of ideas. We can’t think of a better way to help accomplish this mission than to host this Candidate Forum,” he said.
According to Hughes, the forum’s format will include an introduction of the candidates. Each candidate will then be given two minutes to answer questions posed by the moderator. The questions will be culled from submissions by the public and sent in to the Waukee Public Library.
Light refreshments will be served at the free event open to the public.
