DES MOINES, Iowa (November 14, 2012) – The Des Moines Social Club announces a donation of $100,000 from the Ruan Family Foundation and Bankers Trust in support of the purchase and restoration of Fire Station No. 1.
“Through the Ruan Family Foundation, we are pleased to support the establishment of a permanent residence for the Des Moines Social Club. The organization is an asset to our community, providing unique social and cultural opportunities. I have long believed in the importance of supporting distinctive organizations such as the Social Club, as they increase the vitality of Downtown Des Moines and play a significant role in workforce attraction and retention,” said John Ruan III, chairman of Ruan Transportation.
“We greatly appreciate the support by the Ruan Family Foundation and Bankers Trust for our efforts to renovate and make the firehouse the permanent home of the Des Moines Social Club. Their longtime generosity and commitment to the city of Des Moines continually helps propel our community forward,” said Des Moines Social Club’s executive director Zachary Mannheimer.
