West Des Moines, IA (November 12, 2012) – Hubbell Realty Company’s Riverpoint Lofts recently received 1000 Friends of Iowa 2012 Best Development Award for Renovated Residential. The award was presented at the 1000 Friends of Iowa 2012 Annual Meeting in Mason City, IA this past Saturday, November 9, 2012.
The Best Development Awards recognize development projects and programs across the state of Iowa that best reflect the principles of smart growth and sustainable development and the cities, companies, non-profit organizations and individuals that make these projects or programs possible.
Riverpoint Lofts is a historic rehabilitation project that turned a former factory building, originally built in 1901, into 91 affordable housing rental units. The apartment community opened in late 2011 at 340 SW 7th Street in Des Moines.
Hubbell Realty Company retained many original architectural elements as the building was rehabilitated including exposed brickwork, wooden beams and antique fire doors. Units have been designed in a spacious loft style manner with soaring ceilings, modern paint schemes, skyline views and in-unit washers/dyers. The building also hosts a fitness center, computer lab, rooftop patio, video game room and a kitchen/community area. The innovative location, unit sizes and layouts, united with a strong urban design, are clearly why many call Riverpoint Lofts home.
“Hubbell Realty Company has been a Des Moines leader in repurposing and renovating historic buildings into residential living spaces. Our company believes that responsible development practices are the key to growing central Iowa, and we are honored to be awarded for our efforts,” stated Hubbell Realty Company VP Property Management Krista Capp.
