May 30, 1943 – November 2, 2012
Sandy Kay Kloppenburg, 69, was called to be with the Lord and Savior on November 2, 2012, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 7, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday November 6, at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home. (4208 North Ankeny Blvd.)
She will be remembered for how she loved her children and especially her grandchildren. Her life’s desire was to be a mom and grandma. Sandy loved teaching her kids and grandkids how to bake, sew, and play card games; rarely missing her children’s or grandchildren’s activities, no matter where, when, how bad the weather, or how bad she felt; and she was willing to take a ride down the hill in the wagon, jump on a trampoline, and even try out the Williams’ zip line just for her grandkids! Sandy was very caring, always putting others first, and taking care of her mother, through her death last February, even though she was not feeling 100%. In her spare time, Sandy enjoyed quilting, golfing, and playing cards with family and friends.
Sandra was born to Dale & Elinor (Babe) Krogh on May 30, 1943. She attended country school and graduated from Anita High School in 1961. On February 24, 1963, Sandra was united in marriage to Richard Kloppenburg at the Exira Lutheran Church where she was baptized, attended Sunday School, and confirmed. Sandra worked a variety of jobs over the years including babysitting in her home, working for Davis Consultants in Ankeny from 1978-1984, and retiring in 2001 from Heartland AEA11 in Johnston.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Rich, of 49 years, her children; Kristi (Mike) Watson, Kim (Chip) Williams, and Jodi (Scott) Broshar, her grandchildren; Jacob, Nick & Katie Watson, Colby Williams, and Taylor & Hannah Broshar, her brother, Richard (Sue) Krogh, nephew TJ (Courtney) Krogh, Lani & Mason Krogh, and other family members and many friends.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Elinor “Babe” Krogh, infant brother Jerry, and niece Nicole Krogh.
