September 1, 1970 – November 1, 2012
Margret Ann Vander Martin, 42, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 1, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 7, at Iles Funeral Homes-Brandt Chapel in Dallas Center. The family will greet friends one hour prior to Wednesday’s service. Cremation rites will follow the service and a private burial will be held at a later date.
Ann was born on September 1, 1970, in Newton, IA. Ann’s growing up years were divided between living in Kellogg, IA, Anoka, MN, Perry, IA, and Boone, IA. She was baptized and attended 1st Baptist Church in Perry during high school. She had a very sensitive heart for pro-life and often expressed her excitement of being in God’s Kingdom one day. Those that knew her know the peace and glory she’s surrounded with in Eternity!
After high school graduation in Perry, she attended DMACC in Boone where she received her two-year Associates Degree in accounting. Ann worked at Fareway in Boone for the last 12 years as an invoice clerk. She was very conscientious and worked hard to strive for accuracy.
Among her other interests she volunteered at a horse ranch near Boone and dearly loved working with the special needs children who came to ride the horses.
She had moved to Grimes a year ago to be closer to her Mom and help out where she could. This also allowed her to be closer to her brother’s family and three “vivacious” nieces, Kayla, Kendra, and Kimberly Vander Martin.
Her hobbies included working with counted cross stitch, collecting books and various coins. She loved her beloved cat, Noel, as well as her four previous cats, Katie, Kody, Kelly and Tiffany and being with her close friends, Toni and Angela Lamb.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your memory and parts of you will be with each one of us in a special way. Your life with us ended all too quickly and we will look forward to seeing you, Ann, one day! You are loved so much! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ann will be dearly missed by her mother, Angela Roan of Grimes; brother, David Lee (Melissa) Vander Martin of Colfax; step-siblings, Diana (Dave) DeGlopper of Allegan, MI, Stephanie Roan of Des Moines, and Tim (Barbie) Roan of Allegan, MI; and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Lee Vander Martin Jr. and step-father, Jerry Roan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
