Learn a New Language at Johnston Public Library

Posted November 07, 2012 in Community Blogs, Johnston

Always wanted to learn a foreign language or looking to brush up your skills? We are so pleased to tell you about our exciting new language learning resource at Johnston Public Library called Mango Languages, brought to you by the Friends of Johnston Public Library. Described as “deliciously simple language learning” Mango Language is a new electronic resource available for free to Johnston card holders at www.johnstonlibrary.com. This online language learning tool combines everyday conversation skills, memory building strategies and interactivity. It’s engaging, easy to use and it works.

Mango features language learning programs for many of the world’s most popular languages. Additionally, they also offer customized ESL courses for many languages, including: ESL Spanish, ESL Brazilian Portuguese, ESL French, ESL Russian, ESL Mandarin, ESL Cantonese, ESL Italian, ESL Arabic, ESL Japanese, ESL Vietnamese, ESL Polish, ESL Korean, ESL Greek, ESL German, and ESL Turkish.

Mango Languages uses common everyday conversations as the basis of each lesson so you will be able to start using and appreciating what you learn right away. Their comprehensive methodology includes all four key-language components (vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture) and integrates strategically placed memory building and critical-thinking exercises to help you remember and adapt what you learn.

So, give it a shot—you have nothing to lose. Make this the year you learn a new language with Mango Languages and Johnston Public Library. Have additional questions? Stop by the Reference Desk or call the library at 515-278-5233 to have your questions answered.
