DES MOINES – The Department of Cultural Affairs will present its 8th annual “Chili for Charity” benefit next week in conjunction with the Historic East Village’s Holiday Promenade.
Chili for Charity will be 5-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at the State Historical Museum of Iowa, 600 E. Locust Street in the heart of Des Moines’ Historic East Village. Guests will receive a bowl of chili with toppings, cornbread and a drink for a donation of $5 or a new, unwrapped toy. Vegetarian chili will also be available. Donations will benefit the Food Bank of Iowa and the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
The Nick Leo Jazz Quartet, the Girl Scouts and Lite 104.1 will provide entertainment, and Café Baratta’s will offer cookies and adult beverages for sale. Santa Claus will round out the evening with a special appearance for photographs.

5-9 p.m. – Chili for Charity served
5-9 p.m. – Gift Wrapping Station
5-8 p.m. – Nick Leo Jazz Quartet
6:30-7 p.m. – Girl Scout Caroling
7-9 p.m. – Lite 104.1 provides music
7-9 p.m. – Santa Claus (photo opportunity and wishes)
