Murray Muench
Murray S. Muench age 57 of Pilot Mound, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Israel Family Hospice House at Ames, Iowa.
Following cremation, a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church located at 703 Arden Street in Boone with Rev. Dennis Shepherd officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with family present from 11:00 a.m. to the time of the service. There will be a reception to follow at Murray’s Home in Pilot Mound.
Murray was born June 24, 1955 in Boone, Iowa to Russell Alverner and Beverly LaMoile (Shriver) Muench.
Murray graduated from Boone High School in 1973. He then attended college at the University of Iowa.
Murray grew up in Boone and has lived in the Des Moines River valley outside of Pilot Mound for several years.
Murray went to work for the Chicago/North Western Railroad, now the Union Pacific at the age of 18. He worked as a Locomotive Engineer, for a total of 38 years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Hunt and Fish Club of Boone, and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and a lifetime member of the N.R.A.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and working around his house, doing handyman jobs.
Murray is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea N. Muench of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his daughter and son-in-law, Arielle M. and Adam Gebhart of North Liberty, Iowa; his son, Kyle D. Muench of Boone, Iowa; his grandson, Jacob Jondle and his granddaughter, Eden Gebhart; his sister and brother in law, LaMoile and Bob Jones of Eagen, Minnesota and his sister, Judy Lynn Stagner of Goodson, Missouri.
