Art exhibits from local artists and local school children’s art will be the new additions to the happenings at the library during the Art on the Prairie 2012.

Selected art from Perry elementary, middle and high school students will be on display in the library children’s area. Local artists’ work including that of Mayra Alarcon, painting; Teresa Conroy, jewelry and textiles; Ray Harden, photography; Janice Johnston, felting; Tom Kisling, photography; Vicki Lage, weaving; Jean Pearson, knitting; Sue Peters, textiles and Deborah Ruby, painting will be displayed throughout the library.

Selected art prints that have been withdrawn from the library’s art print collection will be available for sale for $30.

The library will showcase five Iowa authors over the two-day festival. Three of the authors have written children’s books, one has published a young adult book, and one has published two photography books on nature and eagles in Iowa. All the authors will tell their personal story, talk about their books and their inspiration. Some of the authors have activities planned based on their books.

A face painter will be creating her art on all those who volunteer at no charge at noon to 1 p.m. and 2 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
