Posted October 30, 2012 in Community Blogs, Johnston

The Johnston women’s  cross country team earned their best finish in school history at the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday, October 27 by placing third overall. Coming into the meet they were ranked tenth by the state Coaches Association and had never been ranked higher than seventh at any point of the season. They also set a school record by running an average time of 14:57 as a team, which works out to an average pace of 6:14 per mile for 2.5 miles over hill and dale.

Please congratulate the following ladies on a great State Meet & overall season:

Jordyn Kleve:       12th overall; 14:32 (2 seconds from the school record)

Bailey Eppard:     18th overall; 14:37 (4th fastest time in school history)

Kenzie Foldes:     40th overall; 15:08

Anna Toot:            46th overall; 15:12

Sara Ness:             50th overall; 15:15

Maddy Bradley:   59th overall; 15:23

Sandra Kromminga: 100th overall; 16:14

With the exception of senior Bailey Eppard, all of these ladies will be back for next year. They have an incredible group of teammates to push them to even higher heights.

NOTES:

  • Seniors Bailey Eppard & Andrea Renner will represent JHS at the Senior All-Star Meet at DMACC in Ankeny next weekend.
  • Bailey Eppard was chosen to the elite Academic All-State team by virtue of her competition in the State Meet and having a GPA of over 3.8 and ACT score better than 28.

The Johnston women’s cross country team would also like to extend our congratulations to Coach Jaschen and his team for their highest ever finish at the state Meet
