Ok, so you paid your Clive Chamber membership dues and now you have been asked to serve on a committee. Many non-profit organizations cannot survive without their dedicated volunteers and the Clive Chamber is one of those organizations. You made the plunge and committed to being a “member” and now someone is calling you asking you to do…you are listening, but not whole heartedly to what the individual is saying and you are thinking to yourself, “what more will they want from me? I paid my dues that should be enough shouldn’t it?” No, in actuality it is not enough, for you see; it takes many hands and feet to make a Chamber successful. Now I am not saying you have to jump in full force and get on the Board or anything that extreme, just yet. Offer to volunteer on a one project committee. Let’s see, may I suggest the possible role of helping with our teacher recognition day in the spring or the annual event that takes place in February. For those of you who are social butterflies how about being a Chamber Ambassador? These individuals are essential in helping new members to feel welcomed by doing new member visits, ribbon cuttings or helping to greet visitors at AM Connections, Business After Hours or SNAP (Social Networking At your Place). We also have a Membership Committee, Government Relations and Communication Committees. If you have thought about being more involved, give me a call or reach out to the Chamber Office and speak with Kristy about what may be a good fit for you. As people become more familiar with you, they may think of you the next time they need your services for their personal or business needs.
