Fall Gardening Tips

Posted October 17, 2012 in Community Blogs

According to all the people with green thumbs in the area, fall is the ideal time to plant flowering bulbs for next spring’s gardens.  The Fort Dodge Public Library has a wealth of books and magazines that can help with tip and tricks to help you have those beautiful flower spots in your backyard.

Fall is also a good time to start thinking about birdfeeders during the winter months.  A recent newspaper column suggests putting out food in feeders now to attract the birds to your yards all winter long.  We have several books that suggest what seeds are good for attracting those cardinals to your feeders.

Finally, we’re in the midst of prime apple season, and the Library has a great collection of cookbooks and recipe books to help you find a new favorite recipe using apples.  And don’t forget using your jack o’lanterns for a fresh pumpkin pie or pumpkin bars.

Fall into a good book at your Fort Dodge Public Library!
