Fall might drive some creatures into hibernation, but Grimes residents are not among them.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Grimes United Methodist Church, 801 W. First St., is hosting its annual holiday bazaar. There will be more than 40 vendors and crafters with a wide variety of items to choose from. In addition, there will be door prizes, silent auction and a bake sale. Breakfast and lunch items will be available, too. Admission is free. Donations to the area food pantry will be graciously accepted.
The church is easy to find, located on Iowa Highway 44 a half-mile west of the water towers in Grimes. For more information, call the church at 515-986-4036 or visit its website at www.grimesumc.com.
There’s plenty to do for kids and adults alike in the faith community. Crossroads Community Church, 410 S.E. Main St., would like to invite students in grades 6 through 12 to its growing ministry called Crossroads Student Ministry (CSM). It’s a place where teenagers worship God, do crazy activities, study the Bible, eat food, do acts of service in the community of Grimes and have fun hanging out with friends. CSM meets from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday nights at the Grimes Community Complex.
The Grimes Community Complex is home to another children’s ministry, which Crossroads launched in September. The new children’s ministry is called Worship Kidstyle. It brings Bible stories to life and the day’s truth home in a way kids will understand. Children in the fourth and fifth grades will watch attention-holding life-application videos that speak to them in their own language and show them how God’s Word relates to their lives. Worship Kidstyle meets on Sunday mornings at 10:30 during the adult worship celebration.
Visitors are welcome to join the Kidstyle and adults services any Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Grimes Community Complex on Main Street. For information, call the church at 515-986-5433, or click on www.experiencecrossroads.com.
