Reading is one of the main focuses for the school district this year.  The Jefferson-Scranton Elementary School will be showing their support of the importance of Reading by hosting their annual “Reading Pep Rally” on Friday, October 19th.  The pep rally will take place at 2:00 PM in the Elementary Gym.  Seniors from the Greene County High School involved in football, volleyball, cross country, cheerleading, band, and vocal will take part in the pep rally.  As part of the pep rally senior students will be sharing the title of their favorite book while growing up.  The senior students will also read to the 3rd and 4th grade students.

The fall athletic season is slowly winding down.  Thursday the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams will compete in the District Cross Country meet in Panora.  The boys will play their final regular season football game at home on Friday.  Friday night will also be Band Night with performances by the 7th/8th Grade Band and the HS Band.  The volleyball team will start tournament play on Monday, October 22nd.

The Jefferson-Scranton School Board will have their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday beginning at 5:15 at the South Grade Building.
