October Happenings at the Library

Posted October 10, 2012 in Community Blogs, Grimes

There will be early voting at the library on Wednesday, October 17 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm.  Avoid the crowds, visit the library and have a great day!

Bingo is next week, Thursday, October 18 at 2:00pm.  There is no charge for this.  It is light hearted fun for any adult who would like to join us.

I accompanied my husband to see the movie “Trouble with the Curve”.  I am not a Clint Eastwood fan, but he managed to quit talking to chairs and costar Amy Adams made the movie quite enjoyable!  Was worth the ticket and popcorn.

As mentioned last week, we have quite a few Halloween programs going on.  Since the kids love to get dressed up in their costumes, this provides them plenty of social interaction in a WARM setting, having a lot of fun with stories, crafts and games!  Saturday, October 20 at 1:00 – Halloween crafts and games

Thursday, October 25, 6:00 to 8:00pm – Party time, feel free to wear your costume IF you want, costumes are NOT required and you do not even have to like  Halloween to come.  This is designed somewhat like the Kirkendall Library program so come join us for fun and games!

We did NOT forget the older kids!  Thursday, October 18 at 4:00pm, come join us in watching the old thriller “The Blob” and make some ‘OOBLECK’!  Snacks, fun and games also attached!  This is also in conjunction with TEEN READ WEEK.  If you like to read, there is no better place to visit than the Grimes Public Library!  If we don’t have it, we will do our best to get a copy of what you want to read in your hands!

Of course, Grimes Beggars Night Tuesday, October 30 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  Watch out for our little gremlins if you are driving!!!

The Library Addition Project has not gone astray.  The Library Board is still diligent in it’s work for more space here at the library. We are nearing the end of our feasibility study and hope to have some hopeful information reported.  Once we get on with our Capital Campaign, we will have fun events to assist with fundraising, not only to obtain funds, but to have some good times while doing so!  If you would like more information or would like to donate to the library, please give me a call anytime.

Questions and Answers, call 515-986-3551.  We are here for you.
