While we didn’t quite reach our goal of 200 new cardholders, this is the largest number of new card sign-ups in recent memory. If you haven’t gotten your library card yet, please come in and do so any day or month of the year. There really is something for everyone at the Kendall Young Library.
Book Sale Oct. 24 – 27
Don’t miss this community favorite. The Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale will start on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. The first day is only open to Friends of the Library, but non-members may join at the door for $2. The sale is open to the public Thursday, Oct. 25 through noon on Saturday, Oct. 27. Donations of used books and DVDs will be accepted through Monday, Oct. 22.
Teen Read Week: Oct. 15 – 20, each teen (grades 6 – 12) can choose one free book. Stop by the Reference Desk
Teen Board (grades 6 – 12) meets on the first Tuesday of the month. Teens help to choose Young Adult books for the library and to plan fun activities. The next Teen Board meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 6, 5:30 – 6:30 p .m. All teens are welcome.
Book Discussion: Tuesday, Oct. 23 at noon, we will be doing an author study on Parnell Hall and his “Puzzle Lady” Series. Books are available at the checkout desk. Everyone is welcome. (Our Nov. 27 book will be “Olive Kitteridge.”)
Tin Can Can-Do: Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m. During this third installment in our up-cycling craft series, you can create a tin can desk organizer. All materials will be provided by the library and no pre-registration is necessary.
Movie: “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” Tuesday, Nov.20 at 6 p.m. Popcorn and drinks provided. Enjoy this movie on our new big screen with surround sound.
Saturday children’s movies are shown every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon for ages kindergarten to fifth grade. Oct. 20: “Scooby Doo, Where Are You?” (G); Oct. 27: “Bit Miracle” (PG); Nov. 3: “Madagascar 3” (PG). Nov. 10: “Ratatouille” (PG); Nov. 17: “Brave” (PG).
