DES MOINES, Iowa (October 9, 2012) – The Des Moines Social Club is proud to announce that the Kruidenier Charitable Foundation gave a lead gift of $500,000 in support of the purchase and restoration of Fire Station No. 1. The Kruidenier Charitable Foundation has been a longtime supporter of the Des Moines Social Club’s efforts since the creation of the organization in 2008.
This pledge, given earlier this year, marks another important milestone in the goal of turning the downtown firehouse into the Des Moines Social Club’s permanent home and a premier arts institution for the community. The space will be designed to house a theater, art gallery, classroom, shared non-profit office space, bars and restaurants, retail, and more. The organization hopes to have the project completed next year with full programming by 2014.
The Des Moines Social Club is currently fundraising to move the firehouse project forward. To learn more about being part of the movement and to donate, please visit http://desmoinessocialclub.org.
