Mabel Ruth Leedom passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines. She was born January 18, 1931 in Pulaski, Iowa to Hugh and Ivas Woodburn, the youngest of seven children. She grew up on the family farm in the Batavia, Iowa area.

Mabel married Eugene (Gene) Leedom and they initially made their home in Des Moines, later settling in Ankeny. In addition to raising four children, Mabel worked in retail before becoming an Avon representative for 25 years. She thoroughly enjoyed her many Avon customers and the friendships that resulted. Throughout her life, Mabel would faithfully share with family and friends her love for her Lord and Savior.

Mabel is survived by her children, Linda Leedom, Ruth Stensrud, Dave (Bev) Leedom, and Lori (Russ) Eimers; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Gene.

Visitation will be at the Ankeny Funeral Home on Monday, October 8 from 4 to 8 p.m., with family present between 6 and 8 p.m. Services will be held at the Ankeny Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 9 at 11 a.m.
