Consumer Reports Online and the Fiery Trial Exhibit at the Library

Posted October 03, 2012 in Ankeny, Community Blogs

With the tight economy, people are looking to shop for value when buying big ticket items.  One of the most trusted resources is Consumer Reports, the world’s largest independent product-testing organization. Consumer Reports Online provides expert buying advice, recommendations, and ratings on thousands of consumer products each year using state-of-the-art labs, auto test center, and survey research center.

Kirkendall Library patrons have access to this valuable resource online by logging in through the library’s website with their library card.  From the library’s website, select Online Reference from the green menu bar on the left. Under the heading “Magazines, Newspapers, and Journal Articles,” select EBSCOHost.  Input all 14 digits of your library card number and you will have access to 1700 magazines in full-text, including Consumer Reports.  For more information about using EBSCOHost call the reference desk at 965-6460 ext 5 or visit the library.

The Fiery Trial exhibit will be at the Kirkendall Public Library October 1st – 4th from 9:00am – 6:00pm.  The mobile exhibit includes a visual timeline of Iowa’s participation in the Civil War; panels about Iowans and their Civil War experiences; information about the impact of the Civil War on Iowa and the role Iowa played in the Civil Rights movement; and a computer program that allows visitors to research their Civil War ancestors.
