Members of the Boone Open Bible Church are showing team spirit this year at Iowa State home football games. Church leaders signed a contract with the University promising to dedicate time to working the concession stands at every home game to raise money for a mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico, in June 2013.

“This money helps us fund our mission trips as well as youth retreats throughout the year,” says Lisa Hoffman, who is the coordinator of the fundraiser. “It gives people the opportunity to fund-raise without having to sell something. They can put in their time instead. And since the people working will be the ones traveling to Tijuana, it also serves as a great team-building activity.”

This is the second year that Open Bible has participated in the fundraiser. For more information about this or any other activities taking place at Boone Open Bible, visit their website at www.booneopenbible.com, or stop by at 1124 Hancock Drive.

Meanwhile, Saturdays have taken on another meaning at Grace Community Church, which has opened its doors to the public for Saturday night worship beginning at 5:30. In promotion of the new service, the church has developed “share cards” to be picked up at the welcome desk and distributed throughout Boone, Ames and surrounding areas to spread the word. The church is located at 806 S. Division St. Check out the website for more information at www.graceboone.com.

The Church of the Sacred Heart would like to invite everyone to its Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament taking place on the first Friday of each month, starting Oct. 5 – 6, following 8 a.m. Mass on Friday until 7 a.m. on Saturday.
