DES MOINES, Iowa – September 25, 2012 — The Polk County Board of Supervisors took action today to approve an agreement with the City of Grimes for the establishment of a congregate meal site for seniors in Grimes. The meal site will be located within an existing community building that houses the Grimes Parks and Recreation Department and the YMCA located at the Grimes Community Complex, 410 SE Main Street. The resolution approves a space agreement with the City of Grimes to house the meal site.
“The Board of Supervisors in partnership with the City of Grimes is pleased to make available this congregate meal site to Grimes area seniors. This meal site will serve to address the daily nutritional needs of our seniors while providing them with much needed social interaction within the community”, stated 2nd District Supervisor E.J. Giovannetti.
Polk County provides senior congregate meals and supportive services to seniors age 60 and older across Polk County. The Grimes meal site located at the Grimes Community Complex, 410 SE Main Street will be open Monday through Friday for approximately four hours per day from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The first day of operation will be on Monday, October 1st.
