DES MOINES, Iowa – September 25, 2012 — The Polk County Board of Supervisors took action today to approve an agreement with Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) to provide a park and ride location at Polk County River Place, 2309 Euclid Avenue.
“The Board of Supervisors is pleased to have been able to partner with DART and provide a park and ride location for area residents at River Place”, stated Polk County Board of Supervisors Chair and DART Commission member Angela Connolly.
The park and ride location is in the southwest corner of the parking lot at Polk County River Place, 2309 Euclid Avenue near the trestle to trestle trailhead. DART Route #6 also services riders at the River Place location.
The Polk County River Place complex consolidates several county services into one location and is home to a total of 350 workers, 290 of which are county employees.
DART is the largest public transit agency in Iowa, serving 19 cities in and around Polk County. The agency is operated with the support of local property taxes and fare revenue. Residents are represented by a nine-member board of commissioners.
