It is hard to believe we just finished the first month of school.  I think we have ironed out most of the kinks related to transportation, food service, etc. Students are actively involved in their classes and with co-curricular activities.

The School Board has been busy the last two weeks with a work session on September 12th and their regular meeting on September 19th.  The work session on September 12th involved looking at Reading data across the school district and discussing what things are in place to help improve reading achievement for all students.  Julie Neal has been assigned to a new position as Reading Specialist.  She will be working with teachers across both districts to improve the teaching of reading in all classes.  Karen Sandberg has been assigned to the position of Curriculum Coordinator for both districts.  She will be working with teachers to ensure that the Iowa Core Curriculum is being implemented in classrooms.  Professional development for all teachers is also focusing on Reading and Language Arts.

At the regular school board meeting on September 19th, the Board held its organizational meeting.  Sam Harding was elected as President and Mark Peters was elected as Vice-President.  The Board will continue to have monthly work sessions on the second Wednesday of the month at 5:15 and regular meetings on the third Wednesday of the month at 5:15.

I encourage everyone to attend the various co-curricular activities taking place this week.  Support the Rams!
