Stashia Edith Santee LaHue, 92, of Perry died September 19, 2012 at Perry Lutheran Home.  Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Murdock Funeral Home in Perry, IA.  Visitation will begin after 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2012 with family receiving friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Pastor Ken Bose of Trinity Lutheran church will officiate with Virginia White as organist.  Musical selections will be:  In the Garden, How Great Thou Art and On Eagle’s Wings.  Interment will be in Violet Hill Cemetery.

She was born February 6, 1920 at her family’s farm west of Varina in Buena Vista County, Iowa.  She was one of 10 children born to Roy Earl and Alvina Belle Steinbeck Traum.

Her family moved to Colorado where her father died in an automobile accident just before Christmas 1926.  Her mother, unable to support her children, sent the younger ones to live with paternal aunts and uncles.  Stashia returned to Fonda, Iowa where she lived with and was later adopted by Frank and Estella Halberg.  On March 29, 1929 Stashia was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Fonda by Rev. Lang.  She attended the local schools and about 1936 married Donald Louis Dayton.  In 1943 Stashia and Donald adopted a daughter and named her Donna Lou.  Don and Stashia were later divorced.  In August 1949 Stashia married Lloyd Raymond Santee in Jackson, Minnesota.  She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry by Rev. R.T. Mueller on November 5, 1950. Their only child, Raymond, was born in December 1950 and Lloyd died in August 1966.  On October 13, 1967 Stashia was united in marriage to Pierre L. LaHue in Omaha, Nebraska.  Pierre died in February 1993.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husbands, daughter and step-sons.

Survivors include: her son, Ray and his wife Doris Ann of Inman, Kansas; grandchildren, Meredith Dwyer and husband Jim of Overland Park, Kansas, Miriam Hanes and husband Jake of Wichita, Kansas and Mallory Santee also of Wichita, Kansas.  Other survivors include her great-grandchildren Keegan Dwyer and Lucy and Knox Hanes.  Additionally, Stashia is survived by step-daughter Donnus McLaughlin of Wisconsin, step-daughters-in-law Marie Santee and Marti Santee of Perry and sisters-in-law Shirley Renfrow of Grimes and Colleen Travis of Garland, Texas.  She is also survived by several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren numerous nephews, nieces and cousins along with her friends.

Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, or the Perry Lutheran Home may be made care of Murdock Funeral Home, 1420 Warford, Perry, Iowa  50220.
