Posted September 24, 2012 in Web Exclusives

DES MOINES, IA (September 24, 2012) — On Friday, Carson’s Store presented Emily Shay, student at Callahan Middle School, with $1000 to start or supplement an anti-bullying program. Emily was the winner of Younker’s Back To School Sweepstakes, and also received a $250 shopping spree at Younker’s.  This interactive social media campaign to support STOMP out Bullying™ gave Younker’s customers the opportunity to share their anti-bullying message with their friends via Facebook.

Bon-Ton has partnered with STOMP out Bullying™, the leading national anti-bullying organization in the U.S., to bring awareness to school age children, their parents and teachers about the harmful effects of bullying in schools.   All stores are selling a specially designed blue shirt to support Blue Shirt Day™ World Day of Bullying Prevention. $8 from every regular priced sale will benefit STOMP out Bullying™.  The goal is to raise $100,000. Bon-Ton family of stores is the exclusive online and in-store retailer of the T-shirts.

Brendan Hoffman, President and CEO, The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., said “All of us at the Bon-Ton stores want to make a difference in our children’s lives during this back-to-school season and what better way than to support “Stomp Out Bullying,” a national organization focused on eradicating bullying in our schools and communities. Our hope is that parents, teachers and children will participate in the Annual Blue Shirt Day™ World Day of Bullying Prevention on October 1st and stand up to bullies everywhere.”
