Larry Robert Kerwood, age 69, of League City, Texas, passed away at home on August 2, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll with Deacon Gary Schon officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Merle Hay Memorial Cemetery near Glidden.
Born on December 30, 1942 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Donald and Mary (Cunningham) Kerwood. Larry grew up in Glidden and graduated from Glidden High School in 1961. Following high school he earned a degree from the American Institute of Business in Des Moines. He worked as database administrator in several locations and was most recently a consultant at Wal-Mart. He was married to Carol Alexander on June 30, 1990 in Tucson, Arizona. The couple lived Greensboro, North Carolina for four years before moving to Texas. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Larry enjoyed watching his boys and later his grandchildren play basketball.
Larry is survived by his loving wife Carole Alexander of League City, Texas; three sons: Robert Kerwood of Marshalltown, Iowa, Michael Alexander and his wife Kelly of Pasadena, Texas, and Matthew Kierpiec of League City, Texas; ; his grandchildren: Robert Kerwood, Jr., Morgyn Lake, Joshua Eilander, Terami Kerwood, Amanda Eilander, Reagan Kerwood, Jonathan Kerwood, Mick Alexander, Delaney Alexander; a great grandson Emmitt Krough; a sister Patricia Nedved and her husband Gerald of Garner, Iowa; two brothers: Ronald Kerwood and his wife Ella Jean of Carroll, Iowa, and David Kerwood and his wife Joan of Boone, Iowa.
