Fall Specials

Posted September 19, 2012 in Ankeny, Community Featured

School is now in session, which means so are the youth group classes and meetings at local churches.

Ankeny Presbyterian Church is one of many local congregations that offer fall activities, special worship meetings and classes.

All are invited to join Ankeny Presbyterian Church in its beginning-of-the-year Wednesday activities. Children’s ministries (grades K – 5) will be held at 4 p.m., with blessings and dinner at 5:30. Then youth ministries (grades 6 – 12) will round off the night beginning at 6:15 p.m. This is a great way for kids to meet other people in the congregation and community. All are invited for the blessing and dinner at 317 S.E. Trilein Drive, or check out www.ankenypcusa.org, or pay the church a visit

Lutheran Youth Fellowship, or LYF, is the senior youth group that meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month from 7:30 – 9 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Students in grades 9 to 12 get the opportunity to study God’s word and hang out with friends in this fun and faithful setting. Junior Youth Group, for grades 6 – 8 also meet on the first and third Wednesdays of the month after Midweek Bible Class, which takes place from 3:30 -5:30 p.m. during the school year.

Contact Director of Christian Education Amy Schmidt at amy@stpaulankeny.org for more information. Other class times and church events can be found on the church website at www.stpaulankeny.org.

Prairie Ridge Church is already looking ahead to spring break. Two excursions are being offered this year, including Mission Navajo and El Salvador. These mission trips take place from March 15 – 23 and 16 – 24. Other trips and destinations are offered for Kansas City, California and Tennessee. Registration for these events can be found on the church website at www.ridgelife.org, or stop by at 825 N.W. 36th St.

Another way to foster a connection with people from the church is to join the Women’s Ministry. Holy Trinity Lutheran Church women are busy planning events through the end of the year, including a self-defense class on Oct. 13. Instructors from the Ankeny Police Department will be on hand, and the class is for all ages. For more information, visit www.holytrinityankeny.org., 517 S.W. Des Moines St. or call (515) 964-4348.
