Library News Sept. 19th

Posted September 19, 2012 in Community Blogs

Storytime starts at the Fort Dodge Public Library this week.  It will be great to see all the little ones again.  Laurie Hotz, Youth Services Director, and her assistant Rachel Lavender have some great programs planned for the next six weeks.  Call the Children’s Reference Desk at 573-8167, ext. 242 or stop in to register your child for this fall session.

This morning it’s a bit brisk outside.  That means it’s time to bring plants inside or prepare them for the winter months.  The library has a wealth of books on how to winterize your roses, as well as other flowers and plants.  It’s also a great time to plant bulbs for next spring.  Rita at the Reference Desk will be happy to show you where to find the resources you need.

For those of you who are interested in genealogy, the Library has a subscription to Heritage Quest Online.  You must have a Fort Dodge library card to access this database, but the newly released 1940 Census is available now to help in searching for family and friends.  I’ve looked up my father’s records, and it’s very easy to use.  If you need some help, we’ll be happy to assist.

We hope to see you soon!
