Fall is a great time to enjoy the cool outdoor weather and take a drive to see all the leaves turning. We have a great selection of audiobooks that would be a great accompaniment to your trip. Check out our online downloadables as well if you have a Kindle, Nook, iPod, etc. Visit one of our many parks and enjoy the afternoon with a good book.
Fall storytimes for preschool-aged children will begin Sept. 19. Children who are 3, 4, 5, or 6 years of age and not in kindergarten are eligible to attend. Registration begins Sept. 13 for the six-week programs offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. For more information, call the Children’s Department at 573-8167, ext. 242.
The Fort Dodge Public Library Friends of the Library will be hosting a Brown Bag Briefing on Thursdays in October. From noon to 1 p.m. each Thursday the Friends present an interesting program and provide a beverage to enjoy while eating lunch at the library. Be sure to visit the Friends Bookshop while you’re at the Library. They have many books and puzzles for sale at a very reasonable price. Proceeds from the store help the Library provide programs and materials for everyone.
If you haven’t visited our website recently, you should note the Hobbies and Crafts database that is listed. If you’ve wanted to learn how to knit, play a good game of poker or build a birdhouse, this website will give you step-by-step instructions and show you a video clip as well. You can refer to the site as many times as you need in order to complete a project. The Fort Dodge Public Library website is www.fortdodgeiowa.org/library. You’ll also find other databases that may be of interest to you. You can renew items and place holds on items as well.
