Why use a Realtor®?
With technology literally at one’s fingertips, it is easy, fast and fun to browse for a house. Why then, do you need a real estate agent? There are many reasons, but one often overlooked is the “second opinion” one. With the advantage of no emotional strings attached combined with experience, a real estate agent can present a different vantage point that can save you money in the long run.
I often hear buyers say something like, “We would really like a ranch-style home, but we could get by with a split foyer (or two story),” or “Three bedrooms would be nice, but two would work.” This is where I step in as a coach. As a Realtor,® I am thinking about resale and what will happen when you call me in five years and want to sell your home because you are moving. You may not currently need a basement, but it is more difficult to sell a home in central Iowa without a basement. You may be able to get by with just two bedrooms, but if you are purchasing a 1,200-square-foot home with only two bedrooms it will be a challenge to sell when the time comes.
As I said earlier, this is just one benefit of working with a full time Realtor®. You probably purchase a home every five to seven years, but we are doing this every day. We see trends. We know the market. We are your “second-opinion.”Information provided by Jon Niemeyer, broker/owner, EXIT Realty North Star, 1039 Sunset Drive, Norwalk, 515-981-5131, Jon.Niemeyer@ExitRealtyNorthStar.com.
