Members of Central Presbyterian Church are getting excited for their weekend getaway at Honey Creek Resort on Lake Rathbun.

Members of the Central Presbyterian Church are heading to Lake Rathbun for a Godly getaway.

The weekend begins Friday night, Sept. 21, including a reception with snacks and drinks. Dinner will be served on the patio followed by a bonfire gathering. This event isn’t just for the adults. Toddlers through teenagers will all find something exciting at Honey Creek Resort.

Although the registration deadline has passed for this event, more information on other church getaways and events can be found on the website at http://www.dmcpc.org or by stopping in at 3829 Grand Ave.

All youth and volunteers are welcome to join the Erev Sukkot Sukkah decorating and service at the Temple B’Nai Jeshurun on Sept. 30. It’s a chance for everyone to show off their talents in adorning these beautiful structures for the entire congregation to see. Volunteers are welcome to help the children express their creative ideas. Dinner will be provided. For more information, visit the temple’s website at http://www.templebnaijeshurun.org, or pay a visit to 5101 Grand Ave.

Tifereth Israel Synagogue, located at 924 Polk Blvd., would like to remind everyone that their S.T.E.P., or Sunday Torah Educational Program, meets every Sunday at 10 a.m. for a lively discussion and study of the Torah. This is an excellent way to study Jewish values, as well as analyze perspectives of Christians and Muslims. The S.T.E.P. program is an outgrowth of the Perek Yomi group that has been meeting at Tifereth for more than two years. No prior religious knowledge is necessary, and everyone is welcome to share. For more information regarding meeting times and locations contact leader, Michael Kuperman, at mikupe@aol.com, or visit the synagogue website at www.tifereth.org.

St. Augustin Catholic Church is challenging members to “Evangelize.”

“We know it works, but, let’s face it, it can be awkward,” organizers wrote in a press release. “So here’s an easy way to do it. Just invite one person who may not otherwise attend the Christ Our Life Regional Catholic Conference. It just might be the best thing we ever did for someone.”

The conference is scheduled at Wells Fargo Arena Sept. 22 and 23. For more information, visit www.ChristOurLifeIowa.com.
