Urbandale Senior Center Hosts Events Celebrating Active Aging Week

Urbandale, IA – September 7, 2012 The Urbandale Senior Center is embracing this year’s
Active Aging 2012 theme “Many Journeys, Many Destinations,” by hosting the following events
the week of September 21-September 29.

Monet’s Garden Party:
Friday, Sept 21, 6:00-10:00 p.m.
This event features appetizers and desserts to candlelight and dancing to live 60’s and 70’s
music from the “Sons of Gladys Kravitz”. Tickets are $5 per person and must be purchased in
advance at the Urbandale Senior Center.

Lords and Ladies of the Louvre Art Exhibition and Tea:
Monday, Sept 24, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Join our local senior artists for an early evening of tea and an exhibition of their amazing works.
Free

International Prom Dress Marathon
: Wednesday, Sept 26, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Don that old fancy dress or tux & bowtie, grab a team partner and participate in a variety of fun
activities from around the globe, including: Scotland Bunkers miniature golf, Buckingham Place
croquet, Italian Bocce, etc. The event is free but pre-registration is requested.

Active Aging Week, organized by the International Council on Active Aging, is a national
observance that highlights the healthy choices and diverse opportunities available to older
adults in a fun and educational atmosphere.

This year’s theme recognizes that older adults choose to travel along individual paths based on
their interests and needs. Destinations of good health and well-being allow better years of life.
